The mission of the Carpentry Program is to provide specialized classroom instruction and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment in a variety of jobs in the field of carpentry or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in the carpentry field.

The Carpentry program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to lay out, fabricate, erect, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures using hand and power tools. The program also includes instruction in areas such as common systems of framing, construction materials, estimating, blueprint reading, and finish carpentry techniques.

The program emphasizes safe and efficient work practices, basic occupational skills, and employability skills. The content is organized into competency-based courses which specify occupational competencies which the student must successfully complete.
