How are you going to finance your training at Louisiana Technical College - Young Memorial Campus? The following are financial assistance programs that are available to you through various agencies.

PELL GRANTS

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now on the Internet and may reduce your wait period by one-half!!  Interested parties are encouraged to click the hyperlink above to open a separate "browser window", and begin filling the application for Federal  Financial Assistance Online.
The Pell Grant is a federal aid program designed to provide financial assistance to those who need to attend post-high school educational institutions. Basic grants may be combined with other forms of financial aid in order to meet the full cost of education. All financial aid you receive will be coordinated so as not to receive an overaward. The amount of your basic grant is determined on the basis of your own and/or your parents' family financial resources. Payment of the Pell Grant is based on the student's completion rate and satisfactory progress in the program in which he/she is enrolled. NOTE:  To be eligible to complete a Pell Grant application you must have a GED or high school diploma.  Presently Certified Nursing Assistant and Marine Operations curriculums are NOT eligible for Pell Grants at Louisiana Technical College, Young Memorial Campus.

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION
Students who have certain physical and/or mental disabilities or learning disabilities are eligible for financial assistance for tuition, books and/or supplies and travel. If eligible, applicant must apply for a PELL Grant. All financial aid will be coordinated with other financial aid received from other agencies. VETERANS' ADMINISTRATION
Veterans can receive financial assistance for all school programs except night classes. Veterans should contact their VA representative at the courthouse in Franklin, Tuesday through Friday. The representative is also at the parish building on Third Street in Morgan City on Mondays. The Veterans Administration telephone number is 1-800-827-8022.

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE
Trainees may draw unemployment insurance while attending Young Memorial. Applications may be filed at the local Job Service Office servicing the applicant's parish or residence. WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (Formerly JOB TRAINING PARTNERSHIP ACT [JTPA])
St. Mary Parish Residents
The JTPA is a federal aid program designed to provide financial assistance to those who need it to attend a post secondary educational institution. All Financial aid will be coordinated with other financial aid received from other agencies. If eligible, applicant must apply for a Pell Grant. You may contact the St. Mary Parish JTPA Office to set up an appointment to meet with a case worker. Applications must be filed within 45 days of starting school. THE WORK CONNECTION
Assumption, Lafourche, and Terrebonne Parish Residents
You may contact the Work Connection Office to set up an appointment to meet with a case worker. Applications must be filed within 45 days of starting school. The application process takes approximately six to nine weeks. If eligible, applicant must apply for a Pell Grant. All financial aid will be coordinated with other financial aid received from other agencies.

TITLE III/DISLOCATED WORKER
To qualify for this program you must have been employed in a full-time position (32+ hours a week or more) for at least six months within the last five years, and currently unemployed. This program is not based on financial need. Funding is for short-term training or short-term retraining. Applicants' qualifications will be verified with the Louisiana Unemployment Office. If eligible, applicants must apply for a Pell Grant. All financial aid will be coordinated with other financial aid received from other agencies. PROJECT FIND WORK
Project Find Work is a program under the Aid to Families with Dependent Children grant which provides child care, transportation assistance, and various other benefits designed to assist AFDC recipients to gain the work skills necessary to become self-supporting. Any individual who is currently included in the payment on an AFDC case meets eligibility for Project Find Work assistance. Any student who wants information about the program should contact her AFDC case worker or call the Office of Family Support. The telephone number is (337) 828-0310. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is located at 604 Second Street, Franklin, LA 70538.

SINGLE PARENTS AND/OR HOMEMAKERS
There are funds available to students who are single parents and/or homemakers who qualify for assistance with child care, tuition, books, and transportation. Funds are available through Louisiana Technical College - Young Memorial Campus, on a yearly basis. All financial aid will be coordinated with other financial aid received from other agencies. ARQUES CHARITABLE EDUCATION TRUST
The Arques Charitable Education Trust is a trust fund for the purpose of providing loans or grants to pay for the educational expenses and support of qualified students while they are studying Air Conditioning/Refrigeration, Automotive Technology, Communication Electronics, Diesel Mechanics, Welding, and Drafting & Design Technology. Students may apply for an ARQUES grant or loan after they have been enrolled in school for a quarter (3 months). The applicant must apply for a Pell Grant and any other financial aid available to the student. Upon applying for all financial assistance, the applicant must complete an application and provide the school with all necessary financial papers requested. The applicant must have a financial need. The applicant must be recommended by his/her instructor and maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or above and have good attendance. The student must appear before a selection committee and the committee will make its recommendation to the Trust. The Trustee reserves the right to determine if the award will be a grant or a loan to the student. If a student drops from school Arques funds will not be reinstated when a student returns to school. H & B YOUNG FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The H & B Young Foundation Scholarships a tuition scholarship to attend Louisiana Technical College - Young Memorial Campus. The tuition scholarships will be awarded quarterly. The student must reside in the corporate limits of Morgan City and proof of residency will be required. Students must have a grade average of 2.5 or above and less that five (5) days absences in a three month period. The students are recommended by their instructor and a Scholarship Selection Committee. Students are required to apply each quarter for the scholarship. Interested applicants may contact the Student Personnel Services Office or your instructor for an applications.

MOTIVATION, EDUCATION, & TRAINING OF LOUISIANA
METLA is a non profit corporation. METLA provides services only to migrant and other seasonal farmworkers. This includes those who have been employed mainly on a farm or in some other agricultural workplace less that year-round during the past 12 to 24 months, and who are members of a low-income family. Dependents of such persons are also eligible. Classroom trainees are paid a cash allowance, equal to the federal minimum wage for every hour of instruction. Those enrolled in on-the-job training or work experience receive an hourly wage from an OJT employer or from METLA itself, over the specified training period. In addition to financial aid, METLA offers trainees a variety of supportive services to assure completion of training and retention of permanent employment. The following training related supportive services are furnished to participants as needed: Child care, Emergency assistance, Family counseling, Referral services, and Transportation assistance. THE JOHN B BREAUX SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
The beneficiary of this scholarship shall be a full-time student attending a public post-secondary Technical College in the State of Louisiana, and the student selected to receive a grant of the income or corpus is to be enrolled in an approved program of vocational education. The annual scholarship will provide up to $1,000 depending on the vocational program. Funds will be provided upon proof of enrollment in a public, postsecondary technical college.
The Selection Committee will consist of the Louisiana Vocational Association President and a committee of two (2), selected by the LVA Executive Board. The selection of the recipient is subject to the approval of the LVA Executive Board. The scholarship will be presented at the LVA Annual Conference. The deadline for application is usually May 1. STUDENT LOANS
Louisiana Technical College, Young Memorial Campus, no longer participates in the Guaranteed Student Loan (Stafford Loans) Program. To apply for a deferment on a prior Guaranteed Student Loan (Stafford Loan), obtain a deferment form from your lender and bring it to the Financial Aid Office at the individual campus.
