Q: Can I transfer credits for my Coast Guard Courses from other
schools?
A: Yes, if you attended a school that is part of the Louisiana
Technical and Community College System you can transfer up to 50% of
those Coast Guard courses.
Q: What if I attended a school that’s not a part of the Louisiana
Technical and Community College System?
A: S.C.L.T.C. Young Memorial will evaluate the acceptance of other
private or public education certifications at the time of your
evaluation.
Q: Will I have to take an entrance exam?
A: Once you decide you want to enroll in a Certificate of Technical
Studies, Technical Diploma, or Associate Degree you will have to
take an entrance exam.
Q: Is there study material for the entrance exam?
A: Yes, when you decide the track you want to take, an S.C.L.T.C.
Young Memorial Career Counselor will give you several options to
prepare for the entrance exam.
Q: Is there any additional cost for degree or certificate seekers.
A: No, this career path was developed for the mariner working on
their license. No extra “thrills” were added in the degree.
Q:Will I be able to obtain a grant for my tuition?
A: No, this is a non-traditional degree and doesn’t fall into the
Federal Government template for funding.
Q: Is there anyone I can talk to about this degree?
A: Yes, a Career Counselor is on staff and will happy to answer any
and all of your questions. |
